Sandvik Material Technology (SMT)
Welding and Wire Division
Sandvik is a fully integrated manufacturer of Stainless Steel and High Alloy Welding Consumables. State of the art manufacturing techniques make these products particularly well suited to the most demanding welding applications. We incorporate microelement control in
our melting practices which give consistent crack free welds, heat to heat, and superior weld metal flow characteristics.
The primary products produced at our wire mill in Scranton are stainless steel and nickel bare wire for the MIG,TIG, SAW processes. Complementing our line are Stick Electrodes, Flux Cored Electrodes, Welding Strip, and Submerged Arc Fluxes in the same alloys.
In addition we also manufacture stainless steel spring wire and forming wire.
We are located off interstate 81,exit 197, about 5 miles north of Scranton ,Pennsylvania. We are about 2.5 hours away from New York City and Philadelphia.
Sandvik Welding and Wire is part of a global Swedish corporation that is a materials technology engineering enterprise. Sandvik's business activities are conducted through 250 companies with representation in 130 countries. Customers outside Sweden account for 90% of our sales. The United States is the largest market for Sandvik.
Our Scranton facility serves as the headquarters for SMT U.S. and also is the home of Tubular Products, Spring Products. Sandvik Materials Technology U.S. There is also a Strip Products manufacturing facility in Benton Harbor Michigan.
SMT has been working under our Quality Improvement Process since 1990. The Scranton Mill is ISO 9002 and QS9000 certified. We hold all the major welding certifications including AWS, ASME, ASME Section III Nuclear, Military, American Bureau of Ships, and Canadian Welding Bureau.
