We offer materials for all types of highly demanding spring applications
The increasing use of stainless spring steel is a consequence of the greater demands for economic manufacturing, high capacity and dependability of springs.
Sandvik manufactures austenitic stainless steel for springs in various grades and tensile strengths. The strips are usually supplied in the cold-worked condition. After the spring has been coiled or formed, its strength can be increased by a simple heat treatment (tempering) with good shape stability.
Sandvik can also supply spring material in carbon steel and martensitic stainless chromium steel.
Stainless steels are far superior to carbon steel as regards corrosion resistance, fatigue strength in corrosive environments, relaxation properties and serviceability at high temperatures.
Hardened and tempered chromium steel is recommended if very flat material is required.
Sandvik also manufactures spring material in the form of round and flat rolled wire.
