A complete range of high-performance stainless steels for etching and precision blanking.

Precision Strip Steel

Hardened steel

Sandvik Chromflex - the hardened and tempered precision stainless steel strip from Sandvik - offers many valuable properties.

The chemical composition of the steel and the specially developed state-of-the-art hardening process give the material a unique combination of mechanical properties, flatness and corrosion resistance. The excellent surface finish, the very low amount of non-metallic inclusions and the high hardness ensure superior fatigue properties.

Sandvik Chromflex is particularly beneficial for etching precision products, ince virtual absence of residual stresses enable the strip to maintain its shape throughout the etching process.

Cold rolled strip steel
Our cold rolled strip steel is supplied principally as austenitic stainless steel which offers high corrosion resistance combined with excellent spring properties. Using the very latest rolling technique, we produce super-thin strip steel to extremely close thickness tolerances and excellent flatness. These properties make the material particulary well suited for complicated etched and blanked parts.

Non-magnetic cold rolled strip steel
Whenever strict demands are made on the non-magnetic properties of parts for the electrical and electronic industries, we can offer a more environment-friendly and less expensive alternative to CuBe and Co alloys.

Sandvik 13RM19 is a unique stainless steel which is virtually non-magnetic in spite of its high strength.

Photo Chemical Machining (PCM) is more commonly known as etching. The principle for PCM is that material is removed by selective chemical dissolution. The main difference between PCM and other machining methods is that no stresses are introduced during the process. In processes like slitting, blanking/stamping and laser cutting stresses are introduced at the edges of the material. The PCM process is characterised by:.

  • Material thickness between 0.015 mm (.0006") and 1.5 mm (.06")
  • Complex design
  • No burrs or induced stresses
  • Often flat products
  • Low cost tooling
  • Short production time
  • Small series possible
